The University of Guelph Grey Gryphons won the 35th-annual Invitational Faculty and Staff Hockey Tournament held Feb. 23 and 24 on campus. U of G has hosted the tournament since 1997.
This year’s event included teams from the universities of Waterloo, Western, Laurier, McMaster and Nipissing as well as U of G. The Guelph team won the Brian Kennedy Memorial Cup Trophy, named for the late U of G professor, who was a long-time participant in the event.
“The 35-year tradition has produced many lifelong friendships,” said event organizer Rich Moccia, associate vice-president research (strategic partnerships) and animal and poultry science professor.
“Our squad has been skating together for more than 20 years, and the memories are a big part of what defines the amazing culture and camaraderie we have here at U of G.”
