College of Management and Economics students Andrew Wright, Krystal Carrey, Chloe Blais, Jena Mesih and Hannah McClenaghan lived outdoors during the annual “5 Days for the Homeless” event and raised more than $6,100 for Wyndham House, a Guelph-based youth emergency shelter. That amount exceeds the previous U of G record by more than 20 per cent.

The annual Canada-wide initiative, which ran March 13 to 18, aims to raise money and boost awareness of homelessness. More than 20 universities across the country participated.

During the five days, the CME students slept in Branion Plaza and did not have access to shelter, money or showers. “To see our students making a difference in our community is a source of pride for us all,” says CME acting dean Sylvain Charlebois.
