University of Guelph staff received three gold awards and an honorable mention in the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District II Accolades Awards program. Citations will be presented at the District II annual conference in Pittsburgh, PA., March 3 to 5.

Gold awards were received in the following categories:

  • Special events – The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) Pet Trust Gala, “A Walk in the Park,” commemorated the 25th anniversary of Pet Trust. The event was organized by Karen Scott, managing director of the OVC Pet Trust Fund and her volunteer team.
  • General news writing – The award recognized quality in writing and presentation of technical information in University of Guelph press releases written by Lori Bona Hunt, director, news service, in the Department of Communications and Public Affairs.
  • Proposal writing – The U of G proposal for an anonymous chair in pollinator conservation was a joint project of the Ontario Agricultural College and the Department of Alumni Affairs and Development.

The 2011 Impact of Giving Report/Calendar received honourable mention in the category for institutional reports. The production team was led by Wendy Turner, associate director, stewardship, in the Department of Alumni Affairs and Development.
