Two members of the Gryphon women’s hockey team and their coach received accolades from the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women’s hockey league Thursday.

First-year student Amanda Parkins was named the most valuable player in the OUA league.  She played in every game this season and earned a league-leading 43 points, including a league high of 19 goals. Parkins was third in the country in scoring in her rookie year. She was also named a first-team all-star and a member of the all-rookie team.

Christine Grant was named Rookie of the Year. She also played in all 26 games and finished fourth in the OUA scoring race with 32 points, including 14 goals.

Women’s hockey coach Rachel Flanagan was named OUA coach of the year. She coached Guelph to a second-place finish, including a 14-game winning streak.
